The farmhouse La Fenice is in the Sixteenth century village Ca' De' Gatti, whose name comes from the owner of that period. The mother's family, Paolo and Remo Giarandoni, have been living there for over six generations and they have decided, after thirteen years of renovation work, to open their home to guests. The farm is situated in the Bolognese Apennines at more or less 800 metres of altitude and is surrounded by great oak and chestnuts trees. They represent one of the best features of the area: ferns, brooms, musk and wet earth are in the background of a landscape where it's common to see roe deers and other kinds of animals. It is in this special place, in the solid dwelling house or in the guest house, that La Fenice hosts tourists looking for the fascination of the past. There are fifteen rooms, all furnished in a simple but elegant country style. Every room has a private bathroom and some of them even a romantic fireplace: they represent the perfect place after a day in the open air. There is also a reading room and a convention room. In summer there is a nice swimming pool at your disposal. The cuisine, in full respect of local traditions, is characterized by the absolute genuineness of food. Pasta is home-made and served with roasted meat, fowl but also typical tigelle, fried crescentine, meat slices, cheese and wine of the area. Prices start from 40 Euros per person per day in a double room. There is an extra charge for a third bed: 21 Euros for adults and 18 Euros for children. Rooms with a fireplace have an extra charge of 15 Euros. In the farm there are free raised breeds of black pig called “Mora Romagnola”, which are used to produce the meat and sausages offered by the restaurant. Reception: All year. Closed from January 7th to February 7th. How to reach us When you exit the tollgate Bologna Casalecchio, follow the directions for Monte San Pietro and Tolè. Head towards Santa Lucia di Roffeno, a sign on the street will direct you to the farm.
